Joshua J. Bell

Joshua Bell has a long career dedicated to nonprofit development and management. He currently serves as Director of Development at the American Friends of the Louvre. Before that he was Major Gifts Officer at amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. Prior to this appointment, Josh served for four years as the Senior Major Gifts Officer at The Studio Museum in Harlem. Founded in 1968, the Studio Museum serves as one of the leading institutions dedicated to supporting and exhibiting art by artists of African descent. During his time there, he oversaw not only major gifts, but also patron programs and all art acquisitions to the Museum’s permanent collection. His work experience also includes time spent in higher education with positions held both at The Bard Graduate Center (of Bard College) and The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (of New York University). 

Josh is a longtime resident of East Harlem. In addition to his work with Artistic Noise, he previously served as Secretary to the Board of The Marcus Garvey Park Alliance, a grassroots organization dedicated to providing art and cultural programming in Marcus Garvey Park. Josh also plays and coaches volleyball in an LGBT league. 

Prior to moving to New York, Josh lived in Philadelphia where he received his BA in English and French literature. He continued his studies at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts, where he received an MA in art history. In his spare time Josh loves to travel, ski, and read.
